What is SUN Meals?

SUN Meals is a fantastic program that lets kids and teenagers enjoy free meals and snacks during the summer. These free meals are available at various places like schools, parks, and other spots in neighborhoods.

The name of the program might vary depending on where you live, but the goal is the same: to provide nutritious food to young people over the summer break.

Who Can Get SUN Meals?

Any child or teenager who is 18 years old or younger can get SUN Meals. There's no need to fill out any forms or applications.

In some rural areas, there's also an option called SUN Meals To-Go. Besides, eligible school-aged children might receive something special called SUN Bucks.

How to Get SUN Meals?

Finding a place that offers SUN Meals is easy. You can find schools, parks, and other locations in your community by using the USDA's Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder tool.

As of July 17, 2025, this tool has information for a host of states. If your state isn't listed yet, keep checking because updates are made throughout the summer. There are also options to pick up SUN Meals To-Go at certain locations.

For delivery options or more details about where to get meals, you should directly contact the site you're interested in or your state's food agency.

Resources for Program Operators

For those running SUN Meal programs, there are plenty of resources available.

These include a communications toolkit and various administration resources to help ensure the program runs smoothly and reaches as many children as possible.

To Sum It Up

SUN Meals is all about ensuring kids and teens have access to healthy, nutritious food during the summer months when school is out.

It's free, easy to access, and a great way to keep our young ones healthy and happy during their break.
